Our newest reports are out, complete with over 90 services, including a number of new services in call coverage, medical direction, and administrative and leadership services.
This year, we found that most physician contracts in our database did not have a rate change from last year to this year. For medical direction positions, 76 percent of contracts did not change. For emergency call coverage, 69 percent of contracts did not change.
Among physician contracts that did have a rate change, the average change for medical direction physician compensation was 1.6 percent, while for emergency call coverage, the average change was 8.8 percent. A significant number of contracts–10 percent for medical direction and 9 percent for call coverage–saw a decrease in payment.
The average length of a contract in the MD Ranger database is about two years, and many contracts appear to be renewed with no change in rates. The bottom line is that, according to MD Ranger’s data analysis, physician compensation rates at most hospitals for call coverage and medical direction tend to be relatively stable.
